Vancouver’s ‘The Bridge Studios‘ FX Stage best know to MacGyver fans as the Phoenix Research labs with it’s unique red beam design has been demolished as part of the studios 5 phase development plan.
Their Facebook page features shots of the famous red beams being pulled down along with some fascinating history of the buildings pre-movie days of being a bridge building site where parts of the Golden Gate and Lions Gate bridges were pre-fabricated.
MacGyver filmed seasons 3, 4, 5 & 6 in and around the greater Vancouver area in Canada and used The Bridge Studios as it’s main production base. The FX stage along with it’s neighboring stages 11, 12 & 13 were used to film external shots of the Phoenix Foundations research facility for various episodes in seasons 4, 5 & 6.
The removal of the buildings will allow for the development of 3 new 17,000 sq. ft soundproof, air conditioned 50 foot tall sound stages complete with 50,000 sq. ft. of new Costumes, Set Decoration and offices all scheduled for completion in August 2018.
