MacGyver creator, Lee Zlotoff, has announced the upcoming release of his second MacGyver book titled ‘Seismic Shift’ along with the re-release of the first book ‘Meltdown’.
Announced as “coming soon for the holidays”, the books will be released as a collectors set with the first book bearing a new cover design similar to this second book.
The books follow MacGyver’s adventures after the end of the original Richard Dean Anderson series – now a freelancer after having left the Phoenix Foundation, MacGyver is back to taking odd jobs for various government agencies with this second book seeing him take on a mission for the CIA in the Middle East only to discover the mission was not as it seemed, forcing him into a collision course with the Agency which gets worse when someone from his past appears in another Agency operation, setting off an international manhunt for both of them.
Although based after the series ended, the books are not able to include established characters from the show due to the copyright setup between Zlotoff and Paramount/CBS. While this means we wont see any fan favorites such as Pete or Murdoc turn up, the first book has shown us that there are still plenty of adventures in the MacGyververse with plenty of new characters to meet.

MacGyver Seismic Shift
By Lee David Zlotoff and Al Palmer
When the CIA all but pleads with Mac to take on a long and dangerous mission that requires his connections around the Middle East, despite his reservations, Mac agrees only to discover the mission was not as it seemed, forcing him into a collision course with the Agency.
That collision all but explodes when someone from Mac’s past seems to appear in another Agency operation, setting off an international manhunt for both that person and then MacGyver himself.
Trying to outrun both the CIA and the Russian FSB, Mac must try to save the civilian whose very existence turns his life upside down while trying to prevent a disaster that could cause tens of thousands of casualties.
No matter the outcome, Mac knows that even if he survives, his life will never be the same.
