Sandrine Holt has joined MacGyver as the fourth regular cast member of the CBS reboot. She joins the recently cast Justin Hires who will play MacGyver’s room-mate, Wilt Bozer while George Eads and Lucas Till will play Jack Dalton and MacGyver respectively as part of the makeover being undertaken by Hawaii Five-0 showrunner Peter Lenkov who was brought in to head the project after a backlash response from fans to the pilot teaser forced CBS to re-think their plans.
Holt will play Patricia Thornton, an ex-field agent turned director of operations for the DXS – “Not one to let the title of “Boss” stand in her way, she is always willing to join the team in the field.”
This character appears to replace Pete Thornton from the original series as MacGyver’s boss. A bold move which may take some getting used to for fans who consider MacGyver and Pete’s father-son type relationship to be an integral part of the show. It also suggests that this show will be very much a team effort compared to the original which had MacGyver mostly working on his own.
Holt’s character will be introduced in the series’ premiere on September 23.
