Rosalind Franklin “Frankie” Mallory (Aly Michalka) is a friend of Angus MacGyver (Lucas Till). They met at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology); working on science projects together and MacGyver helping Frankie by proof-reading her thesis.
Season 1
In Episode 1×19 (Compass), MacGyver is notified that his friend Frankie from MIT was killed in a lab explosion. While traveling to her memorial in Boston, MacGyver admits to Jack Dalton (George Eads) that he had a crush on Frankie during MIT, but that it didn’t lead anywhere since she was five years older, had a boyfriend, and seemed way out of his league. At the memorial, Mac and Jack learn that just a few weeks ago, Frankie’s supervisor Dr. Vanketesh was killed in a car crash. They investigate her death and realize that the explosion was no accident, but a bomb planted in her private lab.
Later, they find Frankie living in the tunnels below MIT: She staged her own death because the same person killing her supervisor also tried to kill her and sabotage the project she was working on, which was identifying DNA samples from cold cases. Working together, they find that the killer wanting Frankie dead was Richard Sang (François Chau) – the same man who funded Frankie’s research project.
Season 5
In Episode 5×07 (Golden Lancehead + Venom + Pole Vault + Blood + Baggage), MacGyver and Frankie smuggle snake venom into the US to work on a cancer cure. Just after Mac visited Frankie in the lab and steps outside, the lab gets ransacked and Frankie’s assistants are killed. As it turns out, someone wanted to steal Frankie’s theoretical research on how to create a bioweapon with the venom; planting evidence of her being a terrorist. Frankie and Team Phoenix manage to stop the bad guys from smuggling the bioweapon outside of the country.
Later, Team Phoenix finds evidence that an organization called Codex was involved.
