MacGyver traveled to the US Virgin Islands at the request of the Famine Aid Committee Chairman, Senator Rhodes whose African famine relief money had been stolen by the Senator’s accountant, Daniel Sims. Sims had delivered the $60 million worth of diamonds to Jack Catlin, an ex-mercenary and casino owner in the Virgin Islands, but was killed by Catlin upon delivery who took the diamonds for himself with the intention of converting them to cash and then into a Swiss bank account via Amsterdam. MacGyver met up with the Senator’s daughter, Chris Rhodes, in the Virgin Islands where they planned and executed a plan to steal the diamonds back from Catlin before he was able to leave with them.
