Central Asia

MacGyver traveled to Central Asia to retrieve the firing mechanism of a captured missile being held at the crash site of a downed US fighter plane. However, once he infiltrated the campsite he discovered that the plane’s pilot, Capt. Jim Taylor, was alive and being held captive giving MacGyver a second unexpected mission objective.

Notes: 
There has been a suggestion at some point that the flash back scene in Friends referred to the location as being in Mongolia but this doesn’t appear to be the case, and Mongolia isn’t considered part of central Asia anyway.
