MacGyver was sent in to rescue geologist Dr. Andrea Gates when she was captured and held prisoner by a Basque Gorilla group in the Pyrenees mountains.
Although the reason for her capture was not certain, MacGyver explained that they suspected the captors didn’t know the difference between geology and physics and probably thought she could build them an atom bomb.
Dr. Gates was being held in a small cabin at a remote Basque camp which MacGyver was able to extract her from while the captors were distracted by over-heated shower water, he and Dr. Gates then rappelled down a cliff and escaped down stream by raft .
